Angels 7, Royals 5
The Los Angeles Angels' offense finally awoke on Saturday night. The Angels scored more than three runs for the first time in June en route to a 7-5 win over the visiting Kansas City Royals.
The Angels shook off the offensive doldrums by plating four runs in the second inning on a bases-loaded triple by Erick Aybar, who later scored on a sacrifice fly.
Los Angeles took the lead for good in the seventh inning on a wild pitch by Aaron Crow and an infield single by Howie Kendrick that bounced off the pitcher's foot. Reliever Tim Collins (3-3) picked up the loss for the Royals.
Four Los Angeles relievers combined to close out the victory with Scott Downs (4-2) picking up the win after pitching 1 1/3 scoreless innings. The Royals had runners on second and third with no outs in the ninth, but Jordan Walden escaped the jam to earn his 14th save of the season.
The win was just the second in the past 10 games for the Angels, who snapped their longest home losing streak since 2002 with the win.
Mike Moustakas, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2007 draft, belted his first-career home run in the fourth inning for Kansas City.
