Diamondbacks 3, Royals 2

Willie Bloomquist's RBI single keyed a three-run sixth inning and Ian Kennedy earned his eighth win of the season as the visiting Arizona Diamondbacks recorded a 3-2 victory over the Kansas City Royals on Wednesday.

Trailing 1-0 heading into the fifth, the Diamondbacks tied it on Xavier Nady's RBI double to left field. Bloomquist followed with a run-scoring single and Nady scored on Ryan Roberts' sacrifice.

Chris Getz stole second and third after reaching on a two-out infield single in the bottom of the ninth inning, but J.J. Putz got Eric Hosmer to pop up for the final out.

Kennedy (8-2) picked up the win for the Diamondbacks, scattering eight hits over six innings.

Putz earned his 19th save of the season after Micah Owings and David Hernandez each contributed an inning of scoreless relief.

Jeff Francis (3-8) tossed seven innings in defeat, allowing three runs on five hits and striking out two. Hosmer drove in both Kansas City runs, the last on a triple in the seventh inning.
