Royals 3, Cubs 2
Chris Getz' infield hit in the eighth inning drove in the go-ahead run and lifted the host Kansas City Royals to a 3-2 victory over the Chicago Cubs on Saturday.
Getz, who had committed a critical error in the ninth inning of the Royals' 6-4 loss on Friday night, redeemed himself Saturday when he beat out a ground ball to shortstop with two outs in the eighth against Jeff Samardzija (5-4).
Kansas City left the bases loaded, but the one-run cushion was enough for Joakim Soria, who struck out the side in the ninth to save it for Greg Holland (2-1).
The Royals took a 2-0 lead in the fifth on back-to-back RBI singles by Eric Hosmer and Billy Butler before the Cubs tied it in the sixth when Aramis Ramirez and Geovany Soto hit consecutive one-out home runs against Danny Duffy.
Duffy scattered nine hits over a career-best seven innings. Carlos Zambrano worked seven innings for the Cubs and allowed two runs on eight hits.
