Padres 4, Royals 2
Clayton Richard threw seven strong innings for his first home win since August and the San Diego Padres beat the Kansas City Royals 4-2 on Tuesday.
Richard (4-9) gave up two runs on five hits and struck out five as the Padres won their third straight game. Heath Bell worked a scoreless ninth for his 22nd save.
Cameron Maybin sparked the Padres' offense by going 3-for-3 with two runs scored and stole his 10th base.
The Padres scored in three of the first four innings off Felipe Paulino (0-6), who allowed four runs - three earned - on 11 hits and struck out seven in seven innings.
Jeff Francouer hit his 11th home run for Kansas City, which has lost 10 of its last 13.
