Diamondbacks 9, Twins 6

Kelly Johnson capped a six-run, eighth-inning rally with a grand slam as the Arizona Diamondbacks extended their winning streak to five games Saturday with a 9-6 victory over the visiting Minnesota Twins.

Juan Miranda went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and Gerardo Parra collected three hits and drove in a run for the Diamondbacks, who have won seven of eight overall and five straight at home.

After Minnesota scored twice in the eighth to take a 6-3 lead, Arizona opened the bottom half with four consecutive hits, including a two-run double by Miranda. The Diamondbacks then loaded the bases for Johnson, who deposited a 2-1 pitch from Matt Capps (1-3) over the wall in right field for his fifth homer of the season.

Aaron Heilman (3-0) benefited from the outburst as he picked up the victory despite retiring only two of the four batters he faced and allowing an unearned run. J.J. Putz worked a scoreless ninth for his 11th save in as many opportunities.

Micah Owings lasted 5 1/3 innings in his first start of the year for Arizona. The righthander, who began his career with the Diamondbacks in 2007 but spent the last two seasons with Cincinnati, yielded four runs - three earned - and seven hits.

Danny Valencia went 3-for-4 with a homer and three RBIs while Jason Kubel also went deep for Minnesota, which has lost 11 of its last 14 games overall and six of nine on the road.
