Brewers 9, Cubs 5
Corey Hart drove in a pair of runs as the Milwaukee Brewers grabbed an early lead and held on for a 9-5 victory over the host Chicago Cubs on Wednesday night.
Jeff Baker hit a first-inning solo homer for Chicago, but the Brewers pulled ahead to stay in the fourth on RBI singles by Hart and Jonathan Lucroy. Casey McGehee helped stretch the advantage to 5-1 when he doubled home a pair of runs against Carlos Zambrano (5-4) and scored on a two-out double by Hart.
Reed Johnson hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the fifth to make it a one-run game, but Milwaukee got its four-run cushion back on a two-run single by Yuniesky Betancourt in the seventh and a solo home run from Rickie Weeks in the eighth.
Chris Narveson (4-4) earned the victory despite allowing four runs in 5 1/3 innings. Narveson gave up five hits and walked three.
Zambrano allowed five earned runs on nine hits in six innings. He struck out five and walked two.
The start of the game was delayed 1:40 because of rain.
