Brewers 2, Cubs 0
Prince Fielder homered for the first time since July 5 and Zack Greinke pitched 6 2/3 shutout innings as the Milwaukee Brewers defeated the visiting Chicago Cubs 2-0 on Wednesday night, but lost Rickie Weeks.
Weeks, Milwaukee's All-Star second baseman, injured his left ankle after beating out an infield hit in the second inning and had to be helped from the field. He will be placed on the disabled list.
Greinke (8-4) allowed three hits, three walks and struck out nine. He threw a season-high 123 pitches en route to his first win since June 21.
Fielder led off the second with his 23rd homer right before Weeks' single. Craig Counsell replaced Weeks and eventually scored on a sacrifice fly by Yuniesky Betancourt.
John Axford pitched a perfect ninth to earn his franchise-record 26th consecutive save. He has 29 on the season.
Casey McGehee had two hits for the Brewers, who have won the first two games of the series.
The Cubs’ Carlos Zambrano (7-6), who came into the game 7-0 in his last eight starts at Miller Park, allowed two runs on six hits in 6 2/3 innings.
