Cubs 4, Nationals 2
Alfonso Soriano hit one of three Chicago homers and drove in two runs to lead the Cubs to a 4-2 victory over the visiting Washington Nationals on Wednesday.
Chicago's Geovany Soto tied the game 1-1 with a solo home run in the second and scored the go-ahead run in the fourth on a double by Soriano, who tacked on his solo shot in the sixth.
Rodrigo Lopez (3-3) worked 5 2/3 innings and yielded two runs (one earned), five hits and struck out four. Three Cubs relievers combined to work 3 1/3 innings of two-hit ball with Carlos Marmol working the ninth for his 25th save.
Washington starter Ross Detwiler (1-2) gave up three runs, seven hits and struck out five in five innings.
Reed Johnson hit a solo homer in the fifth for the Cubs, while Jayson Werth responded with a solo shot in the sixth for the Nationals.
Washington third baseman Ryan Zimmerman singled in the first to stretch his hitting streak to 18 games.
