Brewers 4, Astros 1

Randy Wolf threw eight strong innings, Rickie Weeks homered in his return to the lineup and the Milwaukee Brewers posted a 4-1 victory over the visiting Houston Astros Sunday.

Brandon Boggs homered for the first time since 2008, Ryan Braun reached base in his 21st consecutive game and Prince Fielder recorded his major league-leading 22nd RBI for Milwaukee (11-10), which improved to 7-3 at home.

But the story was Wolf (3-2), who extended his scoreless streak to 20 2/3 innings before allowing a solo home run to J.R. Towles with two outs in the eighth. Wolf allowed just one run and four hits without a walk en route to his third straight road win.

Wolf shut down a Houston team that entered hitting .302 against lefthanders - the fourth-best mark in the majors.

John Axford pitched the ninth for his fourth save in six chances.

Wolf was given all the support he needed early. Boggs homered in the second and Weeks, who sat out Saturday’s game with a sprained pinkie, sparked a three-run third with a leadoff homer – his fifth of the season – off Wandy Rodriguez (1-3). The 275-pound Fielder added an RBI triple and Casey McGehee’s RBI single made it 4-0.

Rodriguez pitched seven innings, yielding four runs, 10 hits and three walks while striking out nine. The Astros (8-14) finished 3-3 on a six-game road trip.
