Mitch Moreland launched a game-ending home run to right field in the 11th inning to lift the Texas Rangers to a 5-4 victory over the Houston Astros on Tuesday.
Josh Hamilton, who has hit safely in 16 consecutive interleague games, made it 4-4 with a homer in the eighth for the Rangers, who have won 12 of 14 against the Astros since 2009.
Moreland's blast came off Enerio Del Rosario (0-2), who had worked 2 1/3 innings.
Nelson Cruz also homered for the Rangers.
Yoshinori Tateyama (1-0) pitched a scoreless 11th for his first major league win.
Astros rookie Jordan Lyles allowed three runs over seven innings and remains winless in five major league starts.
Rangers starter C.J. Wilson allowed four runs over 6 2/3 innings, which snapped his streak of six consecutive quality starts.
Houston's Hunter Pence sat out his fourth consecutive game with a sprained left elbow.
Houston's Michael Bourn stole two bases, running his major league-leading total to 32.
