Diamondbacks 11, Astros 9
Justin Upton homered and had four RBIs as the Arizona Diamondbacks rallied from a six-run deficit to claim a wild 11-9 victory over the visiting Houston Astros on Tuesday.
Upton began Arizona’s comeback from a 7-1 deficit with a two-run double in the fifth. He drilled a two-run homer the following inning off Wilton Lopez (2-5) to give the Diamondbacks a 9-7 lead.
Gerardo Parra went 4-for-4, and Miguel Montero added three hits and three RBIs for Arizona, which won for only the second time in six games.
The Astros' Clint Barmes had a run-scoring double in the ninth before J.J. Putz retired the final two batters for his 27th save.
Houston jumped out to a 7-1 lead as Brian Bogusevic hit a two-run homer in the third and added a run-scoring double in the fourth. J.D. Martinez also homered in the third.
Willie Bloomquist’s two-run single tied the score in the sixth and Upton homered two batters later.
Jimmy Paredes homered in the seventh to pull the Astros within 9-8. Arizona’s Ryan Roberts and Kelly Johnson each doubled home a run in the eighth.
Micah Owings (6-0) pitched three innings of one-run relief for Arizona.
