Rockies 7, Astros 6 (10)
Troy Tulowitzki scored the game-winning run on a wild pitch in the bottom of the 10th as the Colorado Rockies completed a three-game sweep of the Houston Astros with a 7-6 victory on Wednesday afternoon.
Tulowitzki added his 26th blast in the first and Carlos Gonzalez chipped in a homer and three RBIs for the Rockies, who have won five straight and remained 8 1/2 games behind Arizona in the National League West.
With Aneury Rodriguez (1-5) pitching for the Astros, Tulowitzki drew a one-out walk to begin the 10th. He moved up on Jonathan Hererra’s single and a walk to Kevin Kouzmanoff loaded the bases. Rodriguez then unleashed his second wild pitch of the inning, allowing Tulowitzki to score.
Matt Belisle (9-4) picked up the win.
The Rockies beat up on Houston starter Wandy Rodriguez, who was reportedly claimed off waivers by Colorado on Tuesday. A trade bringing the lefthander to Denver seems unlikely, and Rodriguez did not make a great impression by allowing six runs - four earned - and 10 hits in six innings.
Gonzalez’s 23rd home run - a two-run shot - gave the Rockies a 6-5 edge in the fourth but the Astros came right back to tie it in the next half inning on Brian Bogusevic’s sacrifice fly.
Gonzalez has an 12-game hitting streak with seven homers and 23 RBIs during that span. He also has driven in a run in nine straight games.
