Padres 1, Brewers 0
Orlando Hudson hit a walk-off sacrifice fly in the bottom of the ninth inning, lifting the San Diego Padres to a 1-0 home victory over the Milwaukee Brewers on Thursday.
Ryan Ludwick went 2-for-4 to extend his hitting streak to eight games for the Padres, who have scored just four runs in their last three games after registering 51 in their previous six contests.
With the bases loaded and one out, Hudson plated Eric Patterson with the winning run by hitting the first pitch he saw from Marco Estrada (1-2) to right field. Hudson was activated from the 15-day disabled list earlier in the day after missing 13 games with a strained right hamstring.
Heath Bell (2-0) notched the win after tossing a scoreless top of the ninth.
San Diego starter Aaron Harang rebounded from a rough outing at Colorado on Saturday in which he allowed seven runs in 4 1/3 innings. The righthander limited Milwaukee to six hits over eight scoreless frames with two walks and four strikeouts.
Chris Narveson was just as effective for the Brewers, surrendering only five singles with a walk and four strikeouts in 7 1/3 innings, his longest outing of the season.
Corey Hart ran his hitting streak to 10 games with a single in the fifth inning for the Brewers, who have lost nine of 12 on the road.
Milwaukee left fielder Ryan Braun left the game after making the last out in the top of the fifth inning with a sore shoulder. Braun extended his hitting streak to nine games with a single in the first.
