Giants 5, Brewers 4
Brandon Crawford belted a grand slam in his major-league debut Friday, driving in the go-ahead runs to lift the San Francisco Giants to a 5-4 win over the Milwaukee Brewers and snap a three-game losing streak.
The Brewers had a chance to tie it on Jonathan Lucroy's bases-loaded single in the eighth, but left fielder Cody Ross made a perfect throw to the plate. Catcher Eli Whiteside held onto the ball after a collision with Prince Fielder to end the inning.
The loss snapped Milwaukee's nine-game home winning streak, the longest since Miller Park opened in 2001. Brewers starter Shaun Marcum also had his career-best streak of six consecutive wins come to an end.
Marcum (6-2) didn't allow a run until the sixth, but the Giants loaded the bases against him with no outs in the seventh. Crawford's blast to right-center gave San Francisco the lead and chased Marcum.
Crawford became the first player to hit a grand slam for his first major-league hit since Boston's Daniel Nava on June 12, 2010, and the first Giants player to do so since Brian Dallimore on April 30, 2004.
Giants starter Tim Lincecum (5-4) allowed three runs over seven innings for the win. Closer Brian Wilson struck out Rickie Weeks to strand the tying run at second for his 14th save.
Weeks hit a two-run home run off Lincecum in the third inning, his ninth of the season.
Nyjer Morgan was activated from the disabled list before the game and went 2-for-4 with a double for the Brewers.
