Cardinals 11, Dodgers 2

Lance Berkman and Albert Pujols hit two home runs apiece, and the visiting St. Louis Cardinals continued their hot hitting with an 11-2 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday.

Pujols has three home runs in the past two games. Berkman recorded his second multi-homer game in the past five days, and the Cardinals totaled at least 14 hits in their fifth straight game.

St. Louis won its third straight behind 19 hits on Friday, including four by Yadier Molina, and three apiece by Colby Rasmus and David Freese.

Kyle Lohse (2-1) allowed two runs on six hits with one walk and six strikeouts over 7 1/3 innings.

Jon Garland (0-1) gave up five runs in four innings in his first start of the season as the Dodgers lost their fourth straight game.

St. Louis grabbed a 3-0 lead in the third when Berkman led off with a solo home run. David Freese singled and later scored on a balk, and Ryan Theriot capped the scoring with an RBI single.

Berkman hit his sixth home run in the fourth inning, and Pujols added to the Cardinals’ lead with a two-run homer in the fifth and a solo shot in the seventh.

The Cardinals sent nine batters to the plate in the ninth inning and scored four runs on Matt Holliday's RBI double, a bases-loaded walk to Skip Schumaker, and Tyler Greene's two-run single.
