Kyle McClellan threw seven strong innings and Allen Craig hit a three-run homer to lead the visiting St. Louis Cardinals to a 9-2 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday.
McClellan (2-0) allowed one run on six hits with no walks over seven innings.
St. Louis, which has won six of its last seven, grabbed a 1-0 lead in the third on David Freese’s sacrifice fly.
Ryan Theriot added to the Cardinals’ lead with a run-scoring double in the fourth off Clayton Kershaw (2-2), who gave up five runs on six hits and five walks over 4 2/3 innings.
Craig ended Kershaw’s night with his three-run shot, his first of the season.
Los Angeles has been outscored 29-9 and outhit 48-27 in the series’ first three games. Matt Kemp is one of the few bright spots after going 2-for-4 with an RBI single Saturday to improve his average to .453.
St. Louis added two runs in the ninth off Ramon Troncoso, who gave up seven hits and three runs in two innings.
