Brandon Phillips belted a two-run homer in the ninth inning to lift the Cincinnati Reds to a 6-5 home victory over the St. Louis Cardinals on Friday.
After Albert Pujols launched a two-run shot in the eighth to give the Cardinals a 5-4 edge, Phillips responded with his ninth of the season off Fernando Salas (5-3) to end the game.
Chris Heisey homered twice and scored on Joey Votto's RBI double in the seventh for Cincinnati, which posted just its fourth win in 11 outings.
Heisey led off the first with a home run to deep center and doubled the advantage with a blast to left in the fifth. Heisey has collected four of his 12 homers this season against St. Louis.
Rookie Zack Cozart had three hits and recorded his first career RBI for the Reds.
Logan Ondrusek (4-3) was credited with the win after working two-thirds of an inning.
Rookie Tony Cruz had a pinch-hit RBI single in a three-run seventh inning for St. Louis, which fell for the fourth time in six games.
