Pirates 4, Cardinals 3 (10)

Xavier Paul scored on a Chase D'Arnaud sacrifice fly in the 10th inning, lifting Pittsburgh to a 4-3 victory over visiting St. Louis on Sunday afternoon and snapping the Pirates' three-game losing streak.

Paul put himself in scoring position when he reached on a one-out infield single against Jason Motte (3-2), stole second and advanced to third on an errant throw from catcher Gerald Laird. When D'Arnaud lined out to center field, Paul tagged up and beat the throw home to end it.

Joe Beimel (1-1), the Pirates' fifth pitcher of the day, got the win after pitching a perfect 10th inning. Starter Charlie Morton gave up three runs in 5 1/3 innings for Pittsburgh, allowing six hits and walking five.

Colby Rasmus hit a solo home run in the top of the sixth for the Cardinals. St. Louis starter Kyle Lohse worked five innings, yielding two runs and four hits while striking out four.
