Brad Lincoln threw six scoreless innings to notch his second career victory and lead the Pittsburgh Pirates to a 7-0 victory over the host St. Louis Cardinals on Saturday.
Lincoln (1-0), a 2006 first-round pick of the Pirates, won for the first time since June 30, 2010. He also helped himself with an RBI double.
Josh Harrison had three hits and three RBIs as Pittsburgh beat Cardinals ace Chris Carpenter (8-9) for only the third time in 15 career decisions.
Neil Walker homered and Garrett Jones also had three hits to help the Pirates win for just the second time in six games.
Carpenter was pounded for six runs on nine hits in five innings. He entered the game with a 2.33 ERA in 18 career starts vs. Pittsburgh.
