Cardinals 7, Pirates 4
Ryan Theriot singled home a pair of runs as St. Louis topped visiting Pittsburgh, 7-4, on Sunday afternoon.
Allen Craig's sacrifice fly in the fourth inning broke a 4-4 tie and put the Cardinals in front to stay after the Pirates had pulled ahead with a three-run second.
St. Louis added a pair of insurance runs in the seventh to help seal the win for starter Kyle Lohse (12-8).
The Cardinals, who remained 10 1/2 games back of Milwaukee in the National League Central, built a 3-1 lead in the first before the Pirates responded. St. Louis tied it in the third on Theriot's second RBI base hit of the day.
Lohse gave up four runs, two of them unearned, on six hits in five innings. He finished with four strikeouts while walking two.
Jeff Karstens (9-8) lasted just 3 2/3 innings in defeat, allowing five runs on nine hits.
