Rockies 6, Pirates 4
Ty Wigginton's three-run double in the eighth inning snapped a tie and carried the Colorado Rockies to a 6-4 victory over the host Pittsburgh Pirates on Saturday night.
Carlos Gonzalez went 3 for 4 with an RBI and Seth Smith belted a solo home run to help the Rockies (5-2) bounce back from Friday night's 14-inning loss.
Wigginton's two-out double accounted for his first RBIs of the season and made a loser of Jose Veras (0-1), who relieved Pirates start Chad Morton to start the eight inning.
Ryan Doumit had a two-run homer and Jose Tabata extended his hitting streak to nine games with a solo blast for the Pirates (5-4), who will look to salvage a split of the four-game series Sunday.
Matt Belisle (1-0) worked two-thirds of an inning and Matt Lindstrom picked up his first save. Rockies starter Greg Reynolds allowed two runs on three hits in six innings.
Morton allowed three runs - two earned - on five hits in seven innings.
