Rockies 4, Pirates 1
Chris Iannetta hit a three-run homer to cap a four-run second inning to lead the Colorado Rockies to a 4-1 victory over the visiting Pittsburgh Pirates on Saturday.
Iannetta’s blast to right-center field supported fine pitching from Jason Hammel (3-1), who allowed one run and six hits in seven innings en route to his second straight win.
The only blemish against Hammel was Andrew McCutchen’s leadoff homer in the first.
Carlos Gonzalez began Colorado’s uprising with a double and moved to third on Jose Lopez’s bunt single. Seth Smith singled home Gonzalez and Iannetta followed with his third homer of the season.
Rafael Betancourt pitched the eighth and Huston Street worked the ninth for his major-leading 10th save in 10 opportunities.
Pirates starter Paul Maholm (1-4) allowed four runs and seven hits in seven innings.
Gonzalez had two hits for the Rockies, while McCutchen and Neil Walker had two hits apiece for the Pirates.
