Diamondbacks 4, Nationals 2
Daniel Hudson fell one out shy of his third complete game of the season and Miguel Montero had a two-run single as the Arizona Diamondbacks posted a 4-2 victory over the host Washington Nationals on Wednesday.
Ryan Roberts and Gerardo Parra had two hits apiece, and Lyle Overbay collected his sixth RBI in as many games for Arizona, which has won two in a row after dropping six straight.
The Diamondbacks maintained their two-game lead over the San Francisco Giants in the National League West.
Hudson (13-9) scattered nine hits and struck out six, but was denied the shutout when Laynce Nix belted a solo homer with two outs in the ninth. Jonny Gomes also went deep before J.J. Putz collected the final out for his 32nd save.
Livan Hernandez (7-12) suffered his fourth loss in six decisions after permitting four runs on seven hits in 7 1/3 innings.
