Reds 5, Nationals 4 (14)

Joey Votto led off the bottom of the 14th inning with his second home run of the game to lift the Cincinnati Reds to a three-game series sweep with a 5-4 victory over the Washington Nationals on Sunday.

Votto, who hit a solo homer in the first and struck out with runners at second and third to end the ninth, redeemed himself by taking a 3-2 pitch from Collin Balester (1-3) over the left-field wall.

Bill Bray (4-2) pitched a scoreless 14th for the Reds.

The Nationals rallied to take a 4-3 lead on an RBI single by Jayson Werth in the ninth, but Cincinnati pinch-hitter Yonder Alonso hit a solo home run against closer Drew Storen in the bottom half to tie it.

Washington left the bases loaded in the 10th.

Cincinnati starter Johnny Cueto struck out 11 and allowed two runs over seven innings as his National League-best ERA jumped two-hundredths of a point to 2.05.

Jordan Zimmermann yielded three runs and struck out six in 4 1/3 innings for Washington in what was probably his final game of the season. Zimmermann is coming off Tommy John surgery, and the Nationals want to limit his innings this season.

Jay Bruce added a solo homer in the fourth for the Reds.

Cincinnati manager Dusty Baker was ejected in the 12th for arguing after Drew Stubbs was called out trying to steal second base.
