Rockies 10, Reds 7
Seth Smith homered twice and Carlos Gonzalez snapped a late tie with a two-run blast to push the visiting Colorado Rockies past the Cincinnati Reds 10-7 on Monday.
Todd Helton added his 13th home run among three hits, three RBIs and three runs scored for the Rockies, who have traded wins and losses over the last six games.
The teams combined for seven homers in the contest.
Jay Bruce got the homer barrage started with a three-run blast for the Reds in the first. Smith responded with a two-run shot in the second and added another two-run homer in the third as Colorado took a 5-3 lead into a one-hour, 34-minute rain delay.
Cincinnati regained the advantage as soon as play resumed and the lead went back and forth, with the Reds knotting it again at 7-7 on Brandon Phillips’ solo homer in the bottom of the seventh.
Gonzalez struck the final blow, launching a two-run shot far past the wall in straightaway center field off Bill Bray (2-2).
Matt Belisle (6-4) got credit for the win and Huston Street earned his 29th save.
