Johnny Cueto threw seven strong innings in his 100th career start to lead the visiting Cincinnati Reds to a 3-2 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday.
Cueto (4-2), who gave up one unearned run, five hits, walked one and struck out five, has gone at least seven innings in his last four starts. The Reds' starting pitchers have gone at least six innings in nine straight starts.
Francisco Cordero allowed a run in the ninth before recording his 14th save and second in as many games. With his 304th career save, Cordero is tied with Jeff Montgomery for 19th all-time.
The Reds broke a 1-1 tie in the eighth on Joey Votto’s run-scoring single off Blake Hawksworth (1-2) and Drew Stubbs' RBI single in the ninth made it 3-1. The Dodgers have been outscored 80-46 in the eighth and ninth innings combined this season.
Scott Rolen’s 493rd career double drove in Stubbs in the fourth against Clayton Kershaw, who gave up one run on four hits over seven innings.
