Angels 8, Dodgers 3

Erick Aybar went 3-for-4, including a two-run homer, and the offensively challenged Los Angeles Angels pounded out 12 hits in an 8-3 victory over the host Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday night.

Aybar's blast in the fifth inning put the Angels ahead for good as they scored three or more runs for only the seventh time in June. The Angels have won six of the last seven meetings with the Dodgers.

Angels starter Dan Haren (7-5) allowed 10 hits and three runs in six innings, including a two-run homer to Matt Kemp in the first. Haren entered Friday’s game with a .225 lifetime batting average and helped himself with an RBI single in the second off Dodgers starter Rubby De La Rosa (3-2), who allowed five runs in six innings.

The Dodgers, who have lost seven of their last 10 games, could be without outfielder Marcus Thames, who left in the second inning with a strained calf muscle.
