Angels 6, Dodgers 1

Tyler Chatwood pitched seven strong innings and Vernon Wells hit a three-run home run as the Los Angeles Angels continued their dominance in the Freeway Series with a 6-1 win over the host Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday afternoon.

The Angels have now won seven of their last eight meetings with the Dodgers and improved to 10-3 in their last 13 games at Chavez Ravine.

Chatwood (5-4) picked up his second straight win after yielding just one run on four hits with three walks and two strikeouts. He outdueled Dodgers starter Hiroki Kuroda (5-9), who allowed two runs in five innings to take his sixth straight loss.

The Angels led 2-1 in the eighth inning before Howie Kendrick drove in a run with an RBI single and Wells hit his eighth home run of the year two batters later. The Angels will go for the sweep Sunday afternoon with Jered Weaver starting against Clayton Kershaw.

Both teams were without outfielders Saturday, as Dodgers center fielder Matt Kemp was ejected in the bottom of the fifth inning for arguing balls and strikes and Angels right fielder Torii Hunter missed his second straight game with bruised ribs.
