Dodgers 3, Angels 2

Tony Gwynn Jr.’s walk-off single scored Trent Oeltjen as the Los Angeles Dodgers rallied with two runs in the bottom of the ninth to beat the visiting Los Angeles Angels 3-2 on Sunday.

The much anticipated duel between Jered Weaver and Clayton Kershaw lived up to expectations. Weaver gave up one run on seven hits over seven innings while Kershaw (8-3) tied a season-high with 11 strikeouts and took over the major league lead with 128.

He gave up two runs on six hits with no walks over nine innings.

Vernon Wells homered with two outs in the top of the ninth off Kershaw to give the Angels a brief lead, but Jordan Walden (1-2) walked the first two batters he faced in the ninth, allowing the Dodgers to rally for the win.

Kershaw became the first Dodger pitcher to throw back-to-back complete games since Jeff Weaver - Jered's older brother - in September 2005.
