Nationals 5, Brewers 1 (Game 2)
Danny Espinosa's bases-loaded triple in the seventh inning lifted Washington to a 5-1 victory over visiting Milwaukee and a doubleheader sweep Sunday.
Starters Livan Hernandez and Marco Estrada were locked in a 1-1 pitchers' duel into the seventh, when Washington broke through against Kameron Loe (1-1). Laynce Nix, Ian Desmond and Jerry Hairston, Jr. led off with singles to load the bases. One out later, Espinosa drilled his bases-clearing hit to deep left. He had a three-run homer in Washington's 8-4 win earlier in the day
Hernandez (2-1) didn't need any more help. The
veteran scattered six hits over seven innings, striking out three
without a walk. Estrada gave up just one run on five hits in his six
innings for Milwaukee (7-8), striking out seven.
Drew Storen pitched the final two frames in relief of Hernandez and Adam LaRoche capped the scoring with an eighth-inning home run
Hairston got the Nationals ahead in the second inning with a solo home run against Estrada. The Brewers tied it in the fourth when Prince Fielder scored on a base hit by Yuniesky Betancourt.
