Braves 8, Brewers 3 (1st)

Martin Prado extended his hitting streak to seven games and drove in three runs to lead the Atlanta Braves to an 8-3 win over the Milwaukee Brewers in the first game of a doubleheader on Wednesday at Turner Field.

Prado drove in a run with a single to center field in the third inning, and then blooped a hit off the handle of his bat into left-center with the bases loaded in the fourth to drive home a pair. The 3-for-5 effort boosted Prado's batting average up to .265.

The run support benefited Atlanta starter Tommy Hanson (4-3), who won his third consecutive outing and lowered his ERA to 2.63. Hanson allowed only three hits and struck out seven in six innings. He gave up a run in the first inning on a single by Craig Counsell and a solo homer by Prince Fielder in the fourth.

The Braves broke the game open with four runs in the sixth inning, a rally that was highlighted by Chipper Jones' two-run single. Jones now has a team-high 23 RBIs this season.

Milwaukee starter Marco Estrada (1-1) lasted only 5 1/3 innings and was touched for eight hits and seven runs, six earned.
