Matt Wieters homered and Tommy Hunter pitched six strong innings for his second victory as Baltimore ended visiting Toronto’s four-game win streak.

Wieters’ home run was his sixth of the season, giving the Orioles a 2-1 lead in the fourth inning. Toronto left fielder Eric Thames leaped, but the ball caromed off his glove and over the wall.

Hunter (2-1) allowed just three hits and one run over six innings, after surrendering eight runs in his last start.

Pedro Stop pitched the ninth for the Orioles to earn his first major league save, striking out two and walking one.

The Orioles loaded the bases with none out in the first inning, but Toronto starter Henderson Alvarez (0-2) allowed just one run on Adam Jones’ double-play grounder.

Thames tied it 1-1 with his first homer of the season in the third off Hunter, who has given up seven blasts in four starts.

Alvarez, whose only career victory came last season against Baltimore, gave up five hits and two runs over seven innings. Kelly Johnson had two hits for Toronto.
