Second baseman Jason Donald, promoted from the minors earlier Thursday, homered and drove in two runs as the Indians sent Boston to its third straight loss.

Carlos Santana had a pair of hits and extended his RBI streak to five games for Cleveland, which last won back-to-back games July 23-24.

Red Sox left-hander Felix Doubront (10-6) retired 10 straight before unraveling in the fifth. He allowed four runs on seven hits in 4 1/3 innings as Boston lost for the seventh time in nine games.

Adrian Gonzalez's two-run homer in the fourth extended his hitting streak to nine games and Dustin Pedroia singled in a run in the fifth to give Boston a 3-1 lead.

Cleveland responded with three runs in the bottom of the inning, getting a run-scoring double from Asdrubal Cabrera, an RBI single by Santana and a sacrifice fly by Michael Brantley to go ahead 4-3.
