Rangers 2, Yankees 0

Rookie Yu Darvish struck out a season-high 10 batters in 8 1/3 innings as host Texas halted visiting New York's four-game winning streak.

Darvish (3-0) allowed seven hits and walked a season-low two to outduel Hiroki Kuroda in the seventh matchup between Japanese starting pitchers in major league history.

Making his fourth major league start, Darvish was pulled after giving up a one-out single to Nick Swisher in the ninth.

Closer Joe Nathan needed only one pitcher to register his fifth save, getting Raul Ibanez to bounce into a game-ending double play.

Ian Kinsler hit his fifth homer to lead off the game and Josh Hamilton added an RBI single in the third to help Texas win for the 10th time in 12 games

Derek Jeter and Robinson Cano each had two hits for the Yankees, who lost for the fourth time in 14 games. Jeter extended his hitting streak to 14 games, his longest since September 2010.

Darvish wriggled out of a no-out, bases-loaded jam in the third by striking out Curtis Granderson and inducing Alex Rodriguez to ground into a double play.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Jeter had his 10th multi-hit game of the season and has hit safely in his last eight games in Arlington. He is 29-for-64 and batting a robust .416. ... Rangers 3B Adrian Beltre returned to the lineup after missing three games due to a strained left hamstring. ... Rangers SS Elvis Andrus went his 50th game without an error, extending his club record. ... Kuroda allowed two runs in 6 2/3 innings. He was also part of the last matchup featuring Japanese starting pitchers, when he opposed Hisanori Takahashi of the New York Mets on July 22, 2010.
