: Mark Teixeira and Nick Swisher each hit two-run homers as New York kicked off a nine-game road trip with its third straight win.

Robinson Cano also went deep and Ivan Nova tossed seven solid innings for the Yankees, who halted their three-game road losing streak.

After Curtis Granderson scored on an error by Oakland center fielder Coco Crisp in the third inning, Teixeira deposited a 2-1 offering from Tyson Ross over the wall in right for his sixth blast of the year and a 3-0 lead.

The Athletics got on the board in the fourth on Josh Reddick's solo shot, but Cano led off the fifth with his sixth homer and Swisher made it 6-1 three batters later with his eighth blast.

Nova (5-2) allowed three runs and six hits while walking one. The right-hander, who struck out four, improved to 3-0 on the road this year.

Boone Logan tossed a perfect eighth and Rafael Soriano worked a scoreless ninth for his fourth save in as many chances.

Ross (2-5) lasted just 4 1/3 frames, surrendering six runs - three earned - and 11 hits.

Kila Ka'aihue also homered for Oakland, which has scored three runs or less in nine of its last 13 contests.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Yankees SS Derek Jeter went 0-for-5 with three strikeouts. The captain remains tied with Paul Waner for 15th on the all-time list with 3,152 hits. ...
