White Sox 2, Rays 1

Adam Dunn hit a go-ahead two-run homer in the sixth, and Chris Sale racked up 15 strikeouts as Chicago held on in a meeting of AL contenders.

The White Sox have won six straight and nine of 10 to remain within a half-game of Cleveland atop the American League Central.

Sale (6-2) allowed one run on three hits over 7 1/3 innings to win his third straight start. He finished one shy of the franchise record for strikeouts in a game set by Jack Harshman in 1954.

Addison Reed pitched a perfect ninth for his fifth save.

Tampa Bay lost for just the second time in six games a day after pulling even with Baltimore atop the American League East.

Matt Moore (1-5) matched Sale for much of the day, racking up 10 strikeouts in seven innings while allowing two runs on four hits.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Chicago's Paul Konerko went 1-for-4, extending his hitting streak to 14 games but dropping his major league-leading average to .395. … Moore has not won since May 1, going 0-4 in his past five starts. ... Tampa Bay will add veteran DH/OF Hideki Matsui to the roster Tuesday. Matsui batted .170 with four RBIs in 13 games at Triple-A Durham.
