Angels 3, Rays 1

Angels 3, Rays 1: Albert Pujols went 3-for-4 with a two-run double and Dan Haren worked six strong innings as host Los Angeles ended its six-game losing streak against Tampa Bay.

Torii Hunter and Bobby Wilson had two hits apiece for the Angels, who improved to 5-2 on their nine-game homestand and climbed within four games of American League West-leading Texas.

Pujols, who missed Los Angeles' last game after being hit on the right elbow by a pitch on Tuesday, followed two-out singles in the third inning by Mike Trout and Hunter with a hard liner to left field. A diving Sam Fuld had the ball go off his glove, allowing Trout and Hunter to score for a 2-1 lead.

Mark Trumbo proceeded to double the advantage with a single that plated Pujols, who is hitting .395 (17-for-43) with 11 RBIs over his last 11 games.

Haren (8-8) delivered his second straight impressive start after a stint on the disabled list, allowing one run and five hits with a walk and six strikeouts. Haren improved to 7-3 lifetime against Tampa Bay.

Kevin Jepsen and Scott Downs each tossed a scoreless inning before Ernesto Frieri pitched a perfect ninth for his 12th save in as many opportunities.

Alex Cobb (4-8) yielded three runs and eight hits over seven frames but lost for the fifth time in six starts.

Jeff Keppinger fell a triple shy of the cycle for the Rays, who collected only six hits and are 2-2 on their nine-game road trip.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Angels added to their already-impressive starting rotation by acquiring RHP Zack Greinke from Milwaukee for SS Jean Segura and two minor-leaguers. Greinke, who could make his Angels debut on Sunday, went 9-3 with a 3.44 ERA in 21 starts with the Brewers. ... Tampa Bay sold the rights to 1B Brandon Allen to Fukuoka of the Japanese Central League. Allen went 2-for-13 (.154) with a home run and three RBIs in seven games with the Rays after being claimed off waivers from Oakland, where he was 0-for-7 in three contests. ... The Angels activated OF Vernon Wells from the 60-day DL, placed SS Erick Aybar (toe) on the 15-day DL and recalled 3B Andrew Romine from Triple-A Salt Lake. Wells had been sidelined since May 21 with a broken right thumb.
