Royals 1, Rays 0 (10)
Eric Hosmer singled in the game's only run in the top of the 10th inning as visiting Kansas City snapped Tampa Bay's five-game winning streak.
Hosmer's two-out single off Joel Peralta (1-5) plated Jeff Francouer to break up a stirring pitching duel between Royals right-hander Luke Hochevar and Rays ace David Price.
Greg Holland earned his sixth save with a perfect 10th after Kelvin Herrera (1-1) tossed a scoreless ninth to help Kansas City improve to 10-4 in its last 14 games and drop Tampa Bay to just its third defeat in 15 games.
Hochevar, who tossed a complete-game shutout at the Rays on June 26, dominated Tampa Bay's lineup again, striking out a season-high 10 and allowing only a third-inning double to Luke Scott in eight stellar innings.
Price, bidding to become the first 17-game winner in the majors, allowed only three hits, struck out eight and did not walk a batter to remain undefeated in his last 12 starts.
Matt Joyce had the only other hit for Tampa Bay, which started the night four games back of the AL East-leading New York Yankees.
