Blue Jays 11, Rangers 5

Edwin Encarnacion hit a three-run homer and Yunel Escobar went 3-for-4 with three RBIs as host Toronto took the rubber game from Texas.

Kelly Johnson added a two-run blast and J.P. Arencibia drove in a pair for the Blue Jays, who have won four of their last five.

Ricky Romero (4-0) struggled at times but made it through eight innings. The left-hander was charged with five runs on six hits while striking out six and walking three.

The Rangers have dropped four of six and fell behind early on Wednesday.

Matt Harrison (3-2) was given a 1-0 lead in the second inning but quickly fell apart, yielding Johnson’s two-run blast - his sixth - in the third before surrendering six runs in the fourth.

Arencibia started the rally with a two-run double and Harrison walked a batter and allowed a single behind him to load the bases. Escobar came up next and reached out for a 3-2 pitch down and away and laced it into the gap in right-center for a three-run triple.

Harrison was charged with eight runs in 3 1/3 innings.

The Rangers got back into it with a four-run fifth but Encarnacion put it away, tying the American League lead with his ninth homer in the sixth. He has homered in five of the last six games.
