Cubs 1, Braves 0

Paul Maholm pitched seven scoreless innings to win his fourth consecutive start as host Chicago took the rubber game of the series.

Bryan LaHair drove in the winning run with a two-out single in the seventh and the Cubs won their third straight home series for the first time since last September.

Maholm (4-2) allowed only three hits in outdueling Braves starter Tim Hudson. The left-hander has surrendered only three runs during his four-game winning streak.

James Russell worked a scoreless eighth before Rafael Dolis closed it out with a perfect ninth for his third save.

Hudson (1-1) blanked the Cubs through six innings but allowed a leadoff single in the seventh to David DeJesus, who advanced on a sacrifice bunt and a groundout before LaHair's single to left-center brought him home.

LaHair had a pair of hits to boost his batting average to .384 and extend his streak of reaching base to 28 games.

Chicago had a chance to go ahead in the fourth on Starlin Castro's two-out triple, but he was thrown out trying to stretch it into a home run on a strong relay throw from second baseman Dan Uggla.

GAME NOTEBOOK
: Braves CF Michael Bourn went 0-for-4 and had his hitting streak snapped at 12 games ... LaHair's streak is the longest by a Cubs player since Derrek Lee reached base in 30 consecutive games in 2009. ... Prior to the game, the Cub honored Braves 3B Chipper Jones, who played his final game at Wrigley Field unless both clubs make it to the postseason. Atlanta fell to 19-9 since Jones came off the disabled list after having arthroscopic knee surgery. ... Cubs LF Alfonso Soriano, who had an RBI double Tuesday, sat out Wednesday's game with a sore left knee.
