White Sox 2, Rangers 1
Jose Quintana outdueled Matt Harrison, and Kevin Youkilis continued his strong play with a go-ahead home run as host Chicago completed a three-game sweep of Texas.
Alexei Ramirez added an RBI and Addison Reed worked a perfect ninth to pick up his 12th save for the White Sox, who have won seven of their last nine to stay atop the American League Central.
Quintana (4-1) struck out a season-high eight while surrendering just two hits and one run. The rookie left-hander walked one to win his third straight decision. Quintana has allowed two earned runs or less in seven of his first eight major-league starts.
Harrison was given a 1-0 lead on Adrian Beltre’s RBI infield single in the fourth but immediately gave up the advantage in the bottom of the frame. Youkilis drew a one-out walk and moved up on back-to-back singles before scoring on Ramirez’s groundout.
Youkilis gave Chicago the lead in the sixth, belting a 1-1 offering to the opposite field and into the Rangers bullpen for a 2-1 lead.
Youkilis went 6-for-13 with six RBIs in the series - his first at home since joining the White Sox.
Harrison (11-4) ended up with an eight-inning complete game and was charged with two runs on eight hits while striking out five and walking a pair.
