Royals 3, Angels 2
Salvador Perez hit a walk-off solo home run as host Kansas City rallied for three runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to stun Los Angeles.
Zack Greinke took a shutout into the ninth for the Angels but was lifted after surrendering a one-out single by Alex Gordon. Closer Ernesto Frieri (3-1) came on and served up a two-run homer to Billy Butler that knotted it at 2-2.
Perez followed and blasted a line drive down the left-field line and off the foul pole to give the Royals the win and drop Los Angeles 2 1/2 games behind the Baltimore Orioles for the second wild-card spot in the American League. The Orioles suffered a 5-2 setback to Oakland on Saturday.
The Angels had set themselves up for the win behind Greinke and Kendrys Morales, whose solo homer in the fifth snapped a scoreless draw. Torii Hunter drove in a run with a single in the eighth to make it a 2-0 lead.
Greinke was charged with one run on five hits after being pulled with a pitch count of 103. Kelvin Herrera (4-2) got the win in relief of Jeremy Guthrie, who worked the first eight innings.
