Cubs 7, Astros 2

Cubs 7, Astros 2:
David DeJesus tied a career high with four hits and belted a pair of home runs as host Chicago won the rubber game against last-place Houston.

DeJesus entered the day with just two home runs this season, but he doubled that total by the fourth inning. He jumped on an 0-1 fastball for a go-ahead solo shot in the third and blasted a first-pitch fastball for a two-run homer in the fourth. Starlin Castro also homered for the Cubs, who won for just the third time in 15 games.

Bud Norris (5-10) left with one out in the fourth after taking a line drive off his left foot. He allowed six runs on eight hits and remains winless in 13 starts since May 21. The Astros have lost 12 of those games.

Cubs starter Justin Germano (2-2) put together his longest outing of the year, going 6 1/3 innings and allowing two runs on five hits with six strikeouts. One of the runs scored after Germano gave way to James Russell in the seventh.

Houston's Scott Moore hit a solo homer - his seventh - in the second inning.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Cubs took a 5-4 edge in the season series and have won six of seven meetings at Wrigley Field. … Houston has the worst road record in the majors at 12-48. … Cubs OF Alfonso Soriano reportedly has cleared waivers, making him eligible to be traded to any team, pending his approval through his no-trade clause. … Houston's Marwin Gonzalez hit into three double plays.
