Cardinals 6, Diamondbacks 1: Carlos Beltran belted a pair of homers, including a second-inning grand slam, and Jake Westbrook scattered four hits over seven scoreless innings as visiting St. Louis routed reeling Arizona.

After Beltran was one of five St. Louis players to go deep in Monday's 9-6 triumph, he gave the Cardinals a quick 2-0 lead with a blast over the right-field wall in the first inning.

In the his next at-bat, Beltran cleared the bases after depositing a fastball from Ian Kennedy (3-2) over the wall in right-center field. His second homer of the night was his 10th of the season.

Staked to a sizable lead, Westbrook (4-2) rebounded from a clunker in his last outing to breeze to victory. He struck out eight while lowering his ERA to 1.76.

Skip Schumaker and Matt Holliday joined Beltran with a pair of hits and Jon Jay scored twice for the Cardinals, who have scored 23 runs in their last three contests.

Aaron Hill had three hits and Miguel Montero added an RBI double for the Diamondbacks, who dropped their fourth straight game overall and ninth in 11 outings at Chase Field this season.

GAME NOTEBOOK:
Beltran's two-homer, six-RBI performance was his second in the last seven days. He had accomplished the feat just three times in his previous 14 major league seasons. ...
