Luis Cruz belted a three-run homer in the sixth inning and host Los Angeles rallied to snap a four-game losing streak against St. Louis.

Shawn Tolleson (2-1) earned the win in relief after pitching 1 1/3 scoreless innings as the Dodgers moved one game behind the Cardinals in the race for the National League's second wild card.

The Cardinals seized an early 4-1 lead after Chris Capuano allowed solo homers to Yadier Molina and Matt Carpenter in the second inning before Matt Holiday added a two-run blast in the third.

Los Angeles began its comeback with Andre Ethier’s two-run homer in the bottom of the third and moved ahead on Cruz’s two-out, three-run shot to left field off Edward Mujica.

The Dodgers, who extended their lead in the seventh on Adrian Gonzalez’s two-run double, won for just the second time in their last nine games.
