Padres 2, Athletics 1

Clayton Richard shut down the red-hot Oakland offense over 7 2/3 scoreless innings and San Diego wrapped up its first winning road trip of the season.

The Athletics had hit 12 home runs during their five-game winning streak, but the power surge ran out against Richard (4-7). The left-hander allowed five hits and two walks while striking out six in his second straight road win after going nearly a year between wins away from home.

Huston Street recorded the final four outs for his eighth save despite giving up an RBI single to Coco Crisp and allowing the winning run to reach in the ninth before striking out Jemile Weeks to end the game.

The game's first run scored when Will Venable grounded into a fielder's choice one batter after A's starter Bartolo Colon made a throwing error and hurt himself on the same play.

Colon fielded a sacrifice bunt by Alexi Amarista and made a wild throw down the right-field line, giving the Padres runners at second and third with no outs. Colon strained his right oblique on the play and left the game.

Colon (6-7) was charged with one run on one hit and struck out two in two-plus innings.

San Diego added an insurance run in the ninth when Logan Forsythe pinch ran after Carlos Quentin's ground-rule double and scored on Ryan Cook's wild pitch.

The Padres finished 5-4 on the road trip to improve to 10-23 away from him this season.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Padres utility man Chris Denorfia went 1-for-3 to extend his hitting streak to nine games. … A's outfielder Yoenis Cespedes missed his fourth consecutive game with a hamstring injury but is expected to return to the lineup for Tuesday's series opener against the Dodgers. … Oakland's Jonny Gomes matched a season high with three hits.
