Diamondbacks 14, Mariners 10
Justin Upton snapped a tie with a three-run blast in the fifth inning and Ryan Roberts added his first career inside-the-park homer in the sixth as host Arizona went deep a season-high six times to outslug Seattle.
Aaron Hill homered in his third straight contest and Miguel Montero coupled a two-run blast with a two-run single in the sixth inning. Jason Kubel and John McDonald also went deep for the Diamondbacks, who scored 30 runs to take two of three in the series and win for the seventh time in eight outings at Chase Field.
With the game tied at 5-5 in the fifth inning, Upton deposited a 3-0 fastball from Jason Vargas (7-7) into the seats in left center. The majestic blast was the sixth of the season and first since May 23 for Upton, who exited the game with an undisclosed injury.
After scratching for two more runs, Arizona put the game away in the sixth inning after Roberts greeted Hisashi Iwakuma with a shot to right-center field. The ball caromed off the base of the wall and past center fielder Michael Saunders, allowing Montero and Roberts to score ahead of the relay throw and give the Diamondbacks a 14-6 lead.
Trevor Cahill (6-5) settled down after yielding a five-run uprising in the third. He labored through six innings to win his fourth consecutive start.
Kyle Seager capped a five-run third inning with a two-run homer - the blast was his 10th of the season - and second in as many days. Franklin Gutierrez added a three shot in the eighth for his first homer of the season and Casper Wells recorded his second two-run single in as many contests for the Mariners.
Vargas, who yielded five of Arizona's homers, was blitzed for 10 runs on nine hits in 4 1/3 innings to drop his third straight start.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Roberts' inside-the-park home run was the eighth in franchise history, and marked the first time that six different Diamondbacks homered in the same game ... Hill, who went 2-for-4, became the first Arizona player to record a homer and double in three consecutive contests. He is batting 27-for-46 during a 13-game home hitting streak. ... The Mariners, who fell to 7-8 in interleague play, will travel to San Diego for a three-game set which begins on Friday. ... Arizona hosts the Chicago Cubs for a three-game series, which begins on Friday.
