Paul Goldschmidt homered and had three RBIs and Wade Miley pitched eight strong innings as host Arizona beat Colorado for the second straight night.
Goldschmidt went 3-for-4 and extended his hitting streak to 14 games for the Diamondbacks, who have scored 16 runs over the last two games.
Miley (7-2) allowed one run and three hits while winning for the fourth time in five starts. He struck out five and walked none.
Goldschmidt got Arizona on the board in the first inning with a run-scoring single. A.J. Pollock added a run-scoring single in the second to make it 2-0.
The Diamondbacks increased the lead to 5-0 in the third inning as Goldschmidt, Aaron Hill and John McDonald all had run-scoring doubles off Rockies starter Josh Outman (0-2).
Wilin Rosario singled in a run in fifth for Colorado’s lone tally against Miley.
Goldschmidt led off the seventh with his seventh homer of the season, a shot to right field off Rockies reliever Adam Ottavino.
Outman allowed five runs and seven hits in three innings.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Slumping Arizona outfielder Justin Upton wasn’t in the starting lineup for the third time in five games. … Colorado first baseman Todd Helton wasn’t in the lineup and will get a second day of rest with Thursday’s off day. … Goldschmidt is batting .431 (22-for-51) during his 14-game streak. … Colorado hasn’t designated a starter for Saturday’s game as speculation grows that left-hander Jeff Francis might rejoin the organization.
