Giants 3, Rockies 2

Buster Posey and Brett Pill had run-scoring singles in the eighth inning to lift host San Francisco to its third straight victory.

Sergio Romo (2-0) retired one batter in the eighth to earn the win. Santiago Casilla gave up one run in the ninth before retiring Chris Nelson with the bases loaded for his eighth save.

Rex Brothers (1-2) took the loss after giving up Gregor Blanco’s infield single that started the Giants’ rally in the eighth.

Colorado lost its fifth straight despite a stellar effort by Christian Friedrich, who had 10 strikeouts and allowed six hits with one walk over seven innings in his second major league start.

Friedrich’s lone mistake came on a sixth-inning pitch to Blanco, who hit his third career home run and first since Aug. 21, 2010.

Giants starter Ryan Vogelsong worked around five walks in seven innings and gave up Wilin Rosario’s fifth home run in the fourth inning.

The Rockies were 0-for-7 with runners in scoring position and left 11 runners on base.
