Henry Blanco hit a go-ahead two-run homer and Joe Saunders remained unbeaten against Baltimore as visiting Seattle defeated the Orioles for the second straight day.
Blanco smacked his shot off Wei-Yin Chen with two outs in the seventh inning to turn a 2-1 deficit into a one-run lead. Raul Ibanez doubled in the Mariners’ first run.
Saunders (10-10) allowed two runs and eight hits over six innings to improve to 7-0 in nine career starts against Baltimore, which trails first-place Boston by 6 1/2 games in the American League East. Yoervis Medina struck out four in two flawless frames and Danny Farquhar worked a perfect ninth for his second save in two days.
Michael Morse and Ibanez hit back-to-back doubles in the second to give Seattle a 1-0 lead. Baltimore went ahead in the sixth on Danny Valencia’s two-run homer to left-center field.
Chen (6-4) allowed three runs and five hits in seven innings as he remained winless in four career starts against Seattle.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Mariners manager Eric Wedge (stroke) isn’t ready to resume his duties when the club begins a six-game homestand on Monday. General manager Jack Zduriencik said Wedge won’t return until he gets full clearance from doctors. … Valencia was recalled from Triple-A Norfolk after Saturday’s loss. Baltimore optioned RHP Steve Johnson to the same club. … Seattle DH Kendrys Morales, who went hitless in four at-bats, was 15-for-26 during the team's six-game road trip that concluded Sunday.
